About Helen Allman, artist and instructor
Helen
Allman began her art education in Detroit at the Center for Creative
Studies College of Art and Design. Allman received a bachelor's
degree in art from UNA. She has lived and traveled extensively
throughout the U.S, Germany, Peru and Caribbean, all of which
have inspired her work.
Allman has done many murals locally. One of her most interesting
is in an elevator on the UNA campus. She did 3 paintings representing
the UNA Div II winning streaks in 93-95. She was also comissioned
to paint historical representations of Coffee High and Riverhill
School.
Helen is a certified art teacher. She teaches private art lessons
and also does home art parties for children and adults. She can
teach you the basics on drawing, painting, plaster casting, just
about any medium that you may be interested in learning.
Her latest project is doing illustrations from photos taken by
the local 115th Signal Batallion which returned recently from
Iraq. Her son is a marine, and this sparked her interest in doing
something special to honor these brave soldiers.
