About
the Artist
A native Alaskan of Inupiaq descent, David Messer's childhood years
were experienced overseas. Perhaps it was the exotic imagery and experiences
of far away places subconsciously embedded in his mind that
sparked his passion for sketching at the age of six.
He has pursued drawing and technical illustrating since then, both
professionally and as a hobby. Throughout youth and collegiate schooling
(including The Art Institute of Pittsburgh), his course work led to
a creative career including graphics design, photography, topographic
design (photogrammetry), and computer aided design (CAD) drafting.
David's photographs and content have been published
on several websites including AOLTM. His photography was
included in a national EPA publication and his book, New
Orleans: A Post-Katrina Photo Essay, was
recently offered as a National Trust for Historic Preservation fund
raising item.
David's artistic inspiration comes from work by William Christenberry,
Ansel Adams, and Andy Warhol. He is now experimenting with mixed media
to include oil paintings, watercolors, and photographic digital prints
(giclées
as offered on myPhotoPopArt).
